FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What browser and operating system can be used for remote access to NYUMC clinical applications?
Please click here to see a complete listing of all supported browsers and operating systems compatible with OnSiteHealth (OSH).

Most of our applications run successfully using native Mac OS environments. Although we do not officially support non-native Mac environments (i.e. Parallels or VMware), we find that many of our Mac users can successfully access OnsiteHealth and its associated applications using said environments.

Please note the related operating system and browser issues:

  • Onbase Clients: the thin client is supported for IE 8 on Windows 7. The thick client is not supported for IE 8 on Windows 7.
  • IE8 browser: the Windows IE8 browser is not supported for the iSite and MagicWeb clients.
  • Firefox and Chrome browsers: these browsers are not supported for Onbase, MagicWeb, and iSite clients.

In November the VPN client will support IE8 on Windows, and Snow Leopard on a Mac.

Exceptions:

  • PACs (MagicWeb) is accessed remotely using a client that is locally installed on the remote PC. The PACs (MagicWeb)software requires IE6 running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 (OR 3) if you are exporting BMP images. Otherwise, you can use IE6 or IE7.
  • iSite is accessed remotely using a client that is locally installed on the remote PC, and requires IE7.
  • I-Chart/Enterprise Workstation (Nuance/Dictaphone) is not compatible with Windows Vista.

What version (s) of Microsoft Office is supported?

  • For Windows, we support Office 2007 and Office 2003. Please remember to save documents created in Office 2007 in Office 2003 compatible format so users of Office 2003 can read them.
  • For Mac, we support Office 2004 and Office 2008.

Are Apple's MAC OS X operating systems (Leopard or Snow Leopard) supported?

Apple's MAC OS X operating systems are supported for OnsiteHealth. Leopard and Snow Leopard do not work with certain older wireless network infrastructures.

NYUMC's older wireless network infrastructure will be upgraded across the entire campus by September 2008. The upgrade will provide consistent access and provide secure guest access throughout the campus. In addition, MAC OS X will work on wireless across all campus locations.
